They had been lucky, there wasn’t much doubting that. She couldn’t and wouldn’t deny it, but she wouldn’t count their blessings either. Inferni had such a long history with misfortune, even though it seemed that things hadn’t really started to roll until the years past. Things had mounted such an attack that it wasn’t too much of a surprise that someone had the gall to come after them. Dahlia de Mai was of course, that brave. They had always been that brave, from start to eventual finish. But she was so disengaged from the whole thing that her contributions meant nothing, her appearance there would do nothing more than serve that she was around.

But it wouldn’t go on for much longer, that she knew just as much as the rest of them did. Perhaps they were savage, but they exhausted quickly. They never stood under the gun for very long at all, they never quite pulled the trigger all the way either. At best, all of their actions accumulated into a wild game of Russian roulette. It was all click-click-click and no bang and those that died were bullets of sweat and fear. But it was remarkable just how easily the course of things changed. It was more like Inferni to set fire to things, more specifically like her family to be capable of such things, yet the fire had been turned on them.

Corona couldn’t decipher was exactly was going on in Gabriel’s head, though she tried. She tried very hard to consider what options he had, what he was planning, and what all of it meant for them in the long run. There was little doubt that whatever would happen would happen and it would soon be all said and done. Maybe whenever it all came to an end, it would be nothing more than a swift bang; a shot in the dark and a trail of dead. She had come to accept that it was the only way things would really end.
