charred earth

The smell of ash still clung to the air, and it seemed as if the Russian could not shake the taste from his mouth. When Gabriel’s call had reached him, Silas had set out immediately to find the others of Inferni coming together to hear what their Aquila had to say. It was clear that the war had taken a toll on many, and Silas could only speculate on the internal tear each of them faced with the decisions they came to act upon throughout their daily lives. Inferni and the war it was part of had changed Silas, both inside and out. He didn’t doubt the others felt the same.

Both blackened ears turned to catch Gabriel’s words, and Silas stood in silence as he listened to the few words muttered by other’s in response. No utterance of his own could offer any comfort, so he kept his muzzle shut. The ruby princess was nowhere to be seen causing an unusual discomfort in the boy’s gut. Though the fire had claimed part of their lands, Inferni was resilient. With Gabriel’s orders to relocate, Silas set his icy gaze out for their piked borders, ready to reclaim their morbid decorations in order to redefine the clan’s lands.
