things we lost in the fire

He came when he was called, ever-so-conveniently in the area at the sounding. Much had dwelt on his mind for days on end; whether he was a Lykoi any longer, a piece of Inferni, even a coyote. Not once did he question the affection Mother Earth nor his blood mother had for him, for Razekiel knew he was a treasured gem in the eyes of both. The coyote had been smoking something and still it rested at his lips, but his emotions and thoughts were in order. His half-brother, one of so many, had called him and he was quick to respond -- or quick in his own mind, as his stride was wobbly and slow as always. In whatever time he was allowed he got there, plopped down somewhere in the back, and breathed and reeked of the silly stick in his mouth.

A wide, pleasant grin formed at his lips the moment news of an end to war was announced. What a wonderful day that was, that the two packs could finally return to peace! His chest swelled with contented, honey-sweet warmth; his protesting, his arguments for love and peace had finally broken through. It was a relief to know Inferni was capable of finding peace, even if that period did not last necessarily long -- even Razekiel was aware how liable the coyote clan was for argument and conflict.

He had never met Haku and still knew far too little to care for the faceless name. The coyote's ear flicked at the mentioning of Anselm, but a switch in ranks was more fortunate than the Caelum's altogether disappearance. When Gabriel finished, the hippie simply shrugged, breathed into his joint, and allowed the smoke to filter through his toothy smile. "Groovy," was all the useless creature could offer.
