It was over. No more war.

Or so, it was said.

The young Equites knew better though, even if he hadn’t been part of the clan long. As long as that monster was still out there, living and breathing in the chaos and destruction that solely fueled him, the coyotes of the clan would not be able to rest easy. At least, not entirely.

Still, there was some sense of relief in the Russian as he looked over the now familiar faces of the clan. He had yet to get to know many of them on a personal level, but still held on to them as an extension of his family. During the war, though mostly standing behind Inferni’s borders, he had fought for them. The blood that had been split by his hands had been to keep these members safe. And though Silas was not one for murder, he’d dutifully kill again if that meant keeping those he cherished safe.

Though Gabriel’s words reached him and sunk in, it was hard for Silas to find much concentration. Instead, his gaze had traveled idly to locks of deep auburn and he found his mind trailing. Anselm would be stepping down from leadership, but all was well. Son and mother made a perfect duo to keep the clan on course, and Silas didn’t doubt they would prosper. A small shift in territory wouldn’t slow them any – the clan had picked up right where they had left off. And now. Well, now there was some sense of peace. At least, as much peace as the clan could ever expect.

Silas could only hope that they found that madman soon. It broke his heart to think that that monster could be creeping into the dreams of Inferni’s sweetheart.
