The ashen coyote still held Halo propped upwards, her fingers stroking the other canine's dark hair, running her nails gently against the woman's scalp. “I don't know,” the hybrid admitted, leaning forward to look into the other canine's eyes. They seemed bright and clear, if a little weary and certainly apprehensive. “I found you lying on the ground here,” the hybrid said. “What's the last thing you remember?” It was worrisome that Halo could not say how she had fallen into these circumstances. If someone had hurt her, the silvery coyote would not hesitate to issue retribution.
