Because the spring was had hit and the warming of the weather, Vieira had remembered the garden she promised Kaena. She found the packets of seeds—hoping they were still good—on the shelf inside the cave. Having been up earlier than Kaena, she waited to talk about the garden and when she was given permission, she gathered the items she needed to work on it. In Eterne, she had been the sole coyote in charge of the garden once it was set and Astaroth had trust in her but her skills were rusty when her life was blown up after the passing of the man. But she hoped, assuming the seeds were still viable, that a garden would work well. She contained rosemary, oregano, and thyme for cooking and lavender for the sight and smell.

Vieira did not travel far from the cave, but she moved to the first soft soiled spot she found. She could see the cave not all that far from where she was and determining it to be a satisfying spot for the garden. Her set the items she brought with her on the ground. A hand towel to place them on: the seed packets and a small shovel for digging. Most of it would be work with her hands since she did not have that many tools but the shovel would come in handy for the beginning. She picked it up carefully. It was not the best tool. It was rusty and one side was weakened from wear but it would serve a good enough purpose.

On her knees, Vieira began to dig, breaking up the soil and foliage that had grown over time. She pulled at the grass and weeds with her hands, tossing them to the side once she broke the dirt up with the shovel. She was not sure how big of a space she needed just yet but when she had shoveled enough, she would know. Oregano needed the most room, she remembered, and the others were pretty confined but she liked to give them space. The area was big enough, at least. When Vieira finally pulled back from digging, she brushed the top of her head with a dirty hand, dirt falling into the fur of her skull, and she was panting from the work. It was nice to be in the sun but the heat was getting her, which reminded her of Eterne.

Exhaling a long breath, she stood to examine the size: a sloppy six by six of a square that would hopefully be enough room to group the herbs she had.
