Gray Lines on a Wall

She dipped the brush into the can of paint, the blue sinking into it's bristles and saturating it. After much practice she found it easy to hold the wooden handle, and raked the excess paint off the brush. One more stroke against the can's metal rim and she smiled back at Silas, You don't want too much on the brush. Mati didn't want there to be splatters and drips all over his floor, and held her paw under it to catch any fall-away droplets. The brush had just hit the wall when the door was pushed violently open, startled Mati almost lost hold of the brush, and stepped backwards.

Violet eyes looked to find an exotic female coyote, beautiful by any and every standard, taring back at them. It was easy to see that she was unhappy and a frown came to Mati's face at the sight of her. Unsure what this was about, Mati lost her voice from the startle and kept stone still and silent. After what seemed like a long arduous moment the unnamed female turned and left. The Dreamer stood frozen, shocked by the interruption and confused to the most complete point. She looked to Silas, whom stood still only a second longer before running after the other female. A second passed, alone in the dimly lit room and looked around as if looking for another to confirm what she had just witnessed.

Then Mati took the few steps out of the room, brush still in hand and wandered after them. There must be a misunderstanding, though Mati was unsure what it could be. Silas? She called after her friend, utterly confused.
