The preparation for this day had spanned weeks, if not months. She had fallen the timber. Trying to focus her harvest on dead trees. Those still standing and those that had not already succumb to rot. Then dragging the logs with the help of Rem to the location she planned to erect her home. She peeled off the bark and using an axe had squared the logs slightly. Mostly what would be the tops and bottoms. Making the ends were the logs would link slightly smaller. Adjustments would still have to made as they fitted them more properly together. The spring rains hadn't made things any easier, but it had given Anann something to do and gave her body back the toned muscle it had lost in her travels east.

She felt slightly anxious and nervous as she and Heath harnessed up the horses. Anann had read it was preferred for a team of horses to be as close to identical as possible. In that respect they had definitely failed for there were hardly to more opposite in the stables than the pale, gentle Stark and the dark, flamboyant Rem. Do you think many will come? Anann asked Heath as they worked with the various straps of the harnesses, getting them properly fitted for the horses. Anann expected Anatoliy would come, he had promised. Niro had also offered help, but she had not spoken to him about it since that first day they had met. Even with just a few hands though they would be able to get much done.

Once the horses were ready they made the short walk from the stables to the plot of land to the north, the morning dew wetting their paws. To the far side of the spring fed pond, atop a small hill. She had cleared away enough trees to provide room for her home. Having to remove only a few young trees. She left the old growth for shade. The first logs had already been set. A layer of flat stones serving as the foundation. Spaces left for a doorway and a fireplace that had yet to be built. Her crude ramps she had made for getting the logs in position set ready. She checked everything one last time. I do believe we are ready. She said to Heath with a uncharacteristic and nervous smile. Tilting her head back her alto voice rang out, calling for the aid she needed to build her home. With nothing left to prepare, Anann leaned against the trunk of the tree she had deemed her favorite. It was the same one that Heath and Anatoliy had both found her perched in before.
