She was pleased at the woman's acceptance of her offer. It was a mixture of emotions that had led Alaine to make the suggestion - Perhaps, she didn't want to be alone. Perhaps she simply enjoyed knowing that there was somebody else in this cold world who could express the same feeling as she. Perhaps she felt that leaving the ivory she-wolf was callous. In any case, the fact that the other had agreed to accompany her on some aimless wanderings made Alaine momentarily happy, considering it a valuable step forward in the healing process of the grieving mother.
They fell into easy step, and although the she-wolf's stride was longer than hers, the pace was easy to keep up with. Alaine's neat, lithe frame had a controlled grace in each step, not dissimilar to the wolven beauty of movement. As the yet unnamed mother began to speak, the collie-woman's floppy chocolate ears perked in her direction, but Alaine remained respectfully silent until her company had finished the small description.
Her mind conjured up an image of the deceased daughter, and the pangs of sorrow for her female companion echoed hollowly beneath the healer's ribcage.
"She sounds... She sounds beautiful, mistress. The world is..." She struggled a moment to put the concept into highspeech, berating again the fact that all things seemed easier in her own tongue, "The world is darker without her light" It was the closest she could come to expressing what she wished to say, and the cream and ivory lady paused a moment, before continuing, "I would have liked to meet her, or for her to meet my son."
She smiled hesitantly up at the other woman, before continuing the meandering pace forward. The scent of the pines and the soft songs of birds filtered down to them. Alaine considered her company's words a moment more, before continuing, "Do you have many children?"
