The scent of alcohol was foul as it rose to his sensitive nostrils. How long had it been since the burning liquid had burned its way down his throat? One year? Two? Years grinded silently beyond sealed lips, eager to rush after a much more appealing liquid with the beautiful colour of scarlet. Yet, he did not. Limbs flexed as he tested the knots that limited the possibility of tearing her to sheds with his claws. Force would eventually rip through everything, but he did not adore the idea of giving her any time to run away while he tore loose from the bonds. Ears perked as she spoke and his focus followed to the woman. She had put down the drink and she said that she recognized him. He wanted to bare those jagged knives lined up along his jaws then, but he resisted that urge with a silent promise that she would pay for what she had done soon enough.
It was strange to see her so calm if she knew who he was. The devil that glared out from those brilliantly blue painted orbs was not the same man that she had known. The madman had never known Ember Phoenix, but he was armed with memories and remembered that face, though it was different now. Perhaps the little, frail girl had finally grown up. Perhaps, but it would not aid her now. It would ultimately be up to her whether or not she would find death by his fangs. Destroying beauty was an art, and taking a life was not always needed in order to destroy a life. Destruction was all the monster knew now, and he wanted to show her hell. ”Why haven’t you killed me then?” He wondered, taking a soundless breath of air before allowing her name to roll over his tongue. ”Ember.”
