Crouched low, the beast’s hulking body crept through the golden field illuminated by the dancing mist. The world remained still around him. Even in the eye of the glorious storm, death could be found; would be found. Haku Soul did no longer dream, but he knew this scene well. No spoilers had been granted, but he firmly believed in the birth that had been foreseen in a vision smeared with the blood of his unknown daughter. He could not control life as he could control death, but part of this mortal game was the inability to anticipate what lay ahead. It was glorious. A maddened grin cracked his face in half and he wanted to laugh, wanted to wrestle the corrupted sound out into the air to rip the still scene asunder. He had waited a long for this.

He also knew that Gabriel knew. Yet clearly the dog did not know it all. Hungry eyes travelled across the monochrome scene of black and white. An insignificant amount of time passed like this, yet while the world continued around them, the scene—these two did not. A faint breath from far right revealed to the monster his tainted kin, and so his tranquillity shattered. Paws adorned with long, gray claws shifted and flung his hybrid body into motion. Fangs were bared in their insanity; already basking in crimson anticipation.
