It was not real what happened now. His glorious pelt was stained, so freshly red. The sharp edge warmed up by the flesh and blood it had been stabbing was removed from its violent dance into his throat, but sensation was no longer what it once had been anymore. He had believed he had been far too gone to be bothered by the misery of the flesh. There was laughter roaring in the darkness creeping up on the madman, but he could not determine if it was Gabriel’s or his own. Lips twisted, but there was no sound from the wolf’s maroon lips. Air was denied and blood was all that existed in these brief moments where he drifted between life and death. No, not death. The Soul male was invincible. Blood ran glistering crimson in streams through his once so glorious fur. He was immortal.

Darkness’ slow approach shifted into a full, terrible charge as the sacred object was plunged into his chest; into the pulsing organ infested with ink black filth. Haku Soul’s time had run out and his body went limp as the tortured soul of a mass murderer departed flesh and bones. He had remained a monster until the very end, but during that last moment—as the black knife had plunged into his heart, a single image had flashed before those crazed blue eyes. Pale white was the last thing Haku Soul saw, though he never had the chance to recognize what it meant. A madman’s smile remained on a scarred, maimed face, but the demon was dead at last.
