He was sorry to hear about the boy’s mother, but it was not an uncommon thing with incomplete families. His own mother had chosen to do something that in the end got her kicked out, and his father had been even worse. Only Emwe was left of his closest family now. All they could do was to try to survive. He could understand the boy—the need to hold on at least one connection. Of course, had the alpha known the real reasons for why the D’Angelo was here, his thoughts would have been quite different. While the caramel coated male knew Larkspur’s name and function, he knew little of the man. He was curious as to what he wished to learn, but of course, he wouldn’t poke his nose into the youth’s personal life more than what was necessary.

The ability to both read and write at such a young age was fairly impressive. Conor too had early learned this, and it had opened up a whole new world—a place where he was able to escape from the cruel life he had lived when Haku was still here to fuck things up. The alpha nodded, thinking these were good skills. The youth shifted his weight, and lavender eyes refocused; took in the boy’s hidden impatience. He remained silent for a few moments more, unable to let this go just yet. ”And does Jefferson know of your departure? What about the rest of your family?” Surely he had siblings there? He was not certain of this however, but it was worth a try to see the boy’s reaction. Jefferson, an uncle Conor had never yet met, should already be aware of this though.
