Word Count :: 389 Forward-dated to July 29. :O

The sable-shaded canine was sore as hell. There was nothing on her that didn't ache and hadn't ached for the past two days; she had a mean headache since Halo had beat her up, and her face didn't feel too great, either. Her eye had been swollen shut the first day, and the shadowy woman hadn't even been able to open it. Now it was opened up, but the light hurt it so much she had to keep it closed. Her lower lip had swollen up to impossibly large proportions, and flapped almost uselessly, giving her permanent grimace. She supposed she was lucky she hadn't lost any teeth, but she hurt no less for it.

Her fingers worked like mad on this new creation, this tiny little doll. It was vaguely man-shaped, though it was extremely thin and it possessed ears and a tail like a Luperci. Eris had carved this thing out of wood, taking a kitchen knife so she did not have to damage her ritual dagger. This kitchen knife was plunged into the ground next to her, and now her fingers were whirling and winding string around every possible surface of this wooden center. The string was sienna brown, as close a match to Halo's fur color as the sable-shaded canine could find. Though she had procured her supplies from within the mansion, the hybrid took her little project outside, settling down in the gardens just beyond the front door.

Though the summer day was gorgeous, the sable hybrid took no notice of the afternoon passing her by; the birds were singing and the sun was shining brightly, but everything in Eris's world was dark and cloudy. As she wound the string up to the doll's head, she stopped a moment, searching the grass beside her. There was a small chunk of hair there, cinnamon red in color. The hybrid smiled, and set this hair against the string, winding more of it around and around this hair, tying it into place. She tugged on it to make sure it was secure, and grinned. Though there were no features on this little doll to discern it as Halo beyond the hair and fur, the sable-shaded woman knew it would work—the hair would connect it to Halo. Now she just needed to breathe life into the doll.
