Whether it was paranoia or perfect hearing, his prey had noticed his presence. Hybrid did not believe it was a coincidence that she had started behaving so much differently now that he had found her. No, she knew he was there watching her; but she did not know who was watching her or from where. No matter what, Hybrid had the upper hand and he planned on using it to his advantage. While this would be a poor position for a sneak attack, it was perfect for some more psychological warfare. His skills were still a little dull so he intended on polishing them until they shone. He wanted to be able to see his fucking reflection in the blade.

The pale wolf quickened her pace, leaving Hybrid to follow suit. He circled around her, making more noise as he looped back and forth behind her in a slow arc. To throw her off, he would sometimes linger on one side and other times loop ahead before moving backward to find her. On one occasion, he almost lost sight of her completely, but found his way back. He knew he was playing a dangerous game: sooner or later, she would recognize his scent and react. He had to be ready for that – he would be the first to act.

“Kitty, kitty, kitty,” he called out quietly in his rasping tenor. He chuckled quietly; amused he had begun to develop a theme for his victims: they were always feline in nature. How very peculiar.
