WC: 1239. I fail... :[ another apology for the wait <3

Lucia watched, stunned by the behaviour of this Inferni female in front of her. She could see the tears lining her eyes, the stress across her face – something had terrified her, but from the scent in the air, and the lack of followers behind her, it was clear that she was on her own. Lucia couldn’t make sense of it, she would have to ask – but for now, she would tread cautiously, quietly. She would remain careful around this distressed coyote, for it was obvious that she wasn’t in her right mind (though it was apparent not many of the Inferni coyotes were lately).

The beige-furred woman was hyperventilating, her muscles breaking into violent spasms right before Lucia’s toxic green eyes. It reminded the ebony wolf of herself; how she had reacted to being attacked by Daisuke in the wastes. She frowned to herself, a low growl escaping her maw at the thought of her lover’s stalker. Oh, how he made her sick – he made her angry. The hatred was pure, and whoever had scared the female in front of her – she hated them too.

With her hackles erected, the coyote seemed much bigger than she actually was. This, though mildly disturbing, didn’t seem to bother the obsidian wolf. Lucia still pushed forward, slowly making her way toward her. She wanted to help her, befriend her – it seemed they shared a similar affliction. Lucia could aid her, she figured – make it easier for whatever demon this female fought with to disappear. Lucia had her own demons, some of which she couldn’t even get to – and so, experience was key, and she had plenty.

Pausing a few yards away, the Inferni outsider felt herself drift into her thoughts. She winded through the corridors of her mind, taking in the doors that hung off their hinges. Her mind was like a desolate city, rubbish littering the streets, broken down houses, boarded up doors – even doors that seemed to shake in the wind, maybe a monster waiting behind them. That was her mind, that was her abyss in which she lived in – it haunted her, ate her alive, but she would deal. She always had done, she always would do, unless of course, the monsters got out – then she would crash and burn, tearing down the whole damn city with her. That was inevitable. That was fate.

Lucia felt she would remain here, in her dark place, alone – but the movements made by the Praeses drew her back into reality. Staring blankly, a look of confusion on her mouth, the ebony wolf watched her remove the hair from her face, stand up straight and sigh heavily. Tilting her head, she wondered what she could possibly say to this female, what she could do to make it better – but there was nothing. She couldn’t think of a single thing, thus decided to take things as they came. Beginning to walk again, Lucia watched her admire the pregnant moon – it was a beautiful night, a great night for a stroll, but this was not what the ebony prowler had expected. It was not something that she expected, but as events had taught her lately, things never went as planned. They would bite her in the ass, knock her on her back, rape her thoughts, and then after letting her go free for a breath of fresh air, do it all over again. Oh, how she hated her life – this life. It would end eventually, that thought alone kept her going. That and the fact that, maybe, one day she would see her lover again, would share their moments together like before... He was her sanctuary... even if his walls were high, and his doors sealed tight. She would open them eventually; she would find her safe place. Or at least, that was the hope anyway.

Her heart skipped, almost jumped through her ribcage. Lucia, having been so far away in her thoughts of the coyote soldier, had not watched her footing. Stepping on a twig, the coyote had caught wind of her presence. She had startled her. For a moment or two, their gazes connected – Lucia watched her intently, trying to work out her movements. She hadn’t meant to disturb the female as badly as this, she just wanted to help – but the expression on the female’s maw said otherwise. She was scared of something, of her... but why? They were the same clan, they were practically family anyway, so why be frightened? She knew that being a wolf in Inferni had its downside, but she had never seen this reaction before. It was a little extreme, surely. Nobody needed to act like this around her, well... nobody except Daisuke anyway.

It was in that moment, when her attacker flew into her vision, causing her blood to boil, that the coyote woman turned her back on the predator. Squinting her gaze, coals now the size of needles, painted in a malachite hue, Lucia frowned again. She couldn’t understand this reaction, couldn’t figure out why she was so scary. They had the same scent, had the same leaders – hell, Lucia was even a lower rank than the female in front of her, so why? Why be like this... it made no sense.

Still pressing forward, heavy paws crushing the dirt and shrubbery beneath her, Lucia’s gaze took it all in as the Praeses seemed to stumble back into the guesthouse. Her eyes were the size of saucers, wide with fear – oh, how she wished it was Daisuke there instead, how she wished to tear his heart out and feed it to him – Snake laughing along with her in the background. The chances were unlikely, but she could dream; she could imagine. And she did – it got her by, it made her sanity remain mostly intact. She needed all the sanity she could get these days, and apparently, so did the coyote female who she had crossed paths with tonight.

The fleeing female disappeared into the building, and Lucia followed. She had to see if she could help her – she couldn’t leave her like this. Coyote or not, she was part of the pack, and Lucia would obey the rules as best she could. It concerned her – seeing almost a reflection of herself in another. It disturbed her, worried her – confused her. Did they have the same afflictions? Did the same demons haunt them? Could she really help her? The questions whizzed through her head, her pace quickened, worried that the female might attempt to do something stupid. Reaching the guest house, she entered the doorway quietly, eyes travelling over each doorway, each item that littered the corridor. She snarled quietly under her breath, a strange aura in the air. She could sense the female in front of her; the door shut – narrowing her gaze, trying to get a better understanding of the surroundings, Lucia stood at the doorway, and pressed an aud against the wood. Listening silently, she could just about hear the movements of the terrified woman. She sighed heavily, and parted her lips. Speaking quietly, carefully, she voiced her concerns. Hoping for a good response, a good reaction, she waited patiently – giving this anxious female all the respect she deserved.

“Are you okay? What’s the matter...? Let me help you. I’m in this pack, my lover is the Hydra, Snake... check if you don’t believe me... My name is Lucia. I’m a friend!”
