It was a fine enough summer morning, and the Marino girl found herself drifting aimlessly through the grassy plains of the pack lands. Her airy purple dress swished about her calves with each step of her mindless wandering. Part of her debated returning to that foggy old graveyard to see if anyone was lingering around there again. She doubted there would be anyone there so early in the day, but she found her feet taking her in that direction nonetheless.
As she moved forward, drifting past a cluster of trees, she almost didn't notice the peculiar rain of acorns that staggered forth from one of trees ahead of her. The soft thumps of the little acorns striking the ground were noticed as she neared the trunk of the offending tree, and she paused to watch the the little seeds sail through the air, ears twitching slightly with each one that found the soil. Of course, the little acorns couldn't be flying from the trees on their own, and Lucia's brow furrowed as she peered up into the leafy, green canopy. She could just make out feet dangling through the branches, but couldn't see who they belonged to from where she stood.
The Marino girl moved forward, toward the area the acorns had landed in, then turned around to find an unfamiliar figure visible through a part in the leaves and branches. Whoever it was, she was certain she didn't recognize him, nor find any familiarity in his scent. "Hey! What're you doing?" she asked almost acusingly, as if sitting in a tree was the most peculiar thing in the world.
