Silas shrugged in reply, and for some reason, this made Hybrid only slightly angrier. Normally, knowing that a useless fool like Silas could just shrug off what he had to say (since he was much more important than Silas was) would have enraged him. Maybe he had changed. Today, he just laughed. It was a rude thing to do and Hybrid knew it, so he laughed and laughed. It felt very good to belittle someone like this — in fact, it made him feel much better about how crappy life was right now.

Silas began to walk away and Hybrid's laughter subsided. He stepped closer toward the other mutt, letting his displeasure show. He sneered and cocked his head, watching as the other canine tried to edge around him. This would not do; this would not do at all.

“And what the fuck do you think you're doing?” Hybrid snapped. He nodded his head to the other man's knife, and then glanced up to Silas's face again. It would not do to let his eyes wander, not when he was faced with an idiot such as this one. No, he could not let Silas pass; he had not said he could leave and this was an infringement on his dominance and his right to be an ass. No one could take away that right from Hybrid.
