take these broken wings and learn to fly [j]

The sun peered in through the small cracks in the side of his tree house, casting a blinding sort of light right against the closed eyes of the blonde de le Poer son. It took only a few moments for the light to begin to bother him, despite the fact that he had been sleeping, and soon enough Jasper jerked to the side, placing his back to the light. It seemed a good idea at the time, though as he nuzzled his way back to comfort against the stack of furs and pillows, yet another light crept it's way in, again into his eyes. Whining, a very faint sound, Jasper turned back and forced himself to sit up, pressing his hands against the floor to give himself an extra push. It was just his luck really, as always.

Yawning, he gave a slight stretch, lifting his arms high above him as he sat. He was there for a few minutes, taking the time to allow himself to fully awaken before finally standing with a groan. Times had been rough recently, certain events causing him to either stay couped up in the tree house all day or away from the lands completely, at least until night came. Today would be a day outside of the lands, he'd decided that the previous night, in hopes that no one he knew would come across him. Making his way to the door, he turned on the balls of his heels and began his way down the sturdy ladder, not stopping until feet touched the cool ground. Rusalki was there waiting, leaning up against the tree, and Jasper regarded him with little more than a glance.

Being a ghost, of course, Rusalki paid little mind to the fact that all he was given was a glance. He was used to not being noticed, considering Jasper was really the only one that had ever been able to see him. Rusalki, a Luperci much older and much larger than Jasper, followed along behind his friend as he walked, their pace of travel little more than a crawl as the began away from the lake. "Probably go to the city.." He spoke idly, not really expecting an answer from his friend, they hadn't been talking much lately. The rest of the trip toward the borders was made in an awkward sort of silence, one that neither of them felt comfortable in.

It wasn't until they were about to leave the lands that Jasper caught something out of the corner of his oddly colored eyes. Something moving, just off in the distance. It appeared to be a wolf, younger than him it would seem, digging or something. Huffing quietly, he altered his direction, heading off toward the stranger. As he grew closer the form became more clear to him, it was indeed a wolf and he was younger than Jasper, by at least half a year, he would have guessed. "Ya lookin' for someone?" He asked suddenly, stopping just a few feet away from the younger male, looking his usual miserable self.
