[M] - We can live like Jack and Sally if we want

It had been close to three weeks now, and still the weight was lodged in his chest. As he made his way across the seemingly empty trek of land that divided Inferni’s borders from the mansion, Silas folded a palm beneath the black vest to rest along his heart. Despite the news, Silas had tried to go on and live like he had before, but somehow he just couldn’t escape the hurt of it all. Sure, he had gotten along just fine with his family in Cour des Miracles, but now that he knew they had abandoned him here while they had decided to go back to Russia, well... he was left heartbroken. The days had easily started to bunch up in days, and weeks, and begun to collaborate against him. Pretty soon it would be November and the icy months would no doubt remind Silas of the frigid coastline where Sobirat'sya was settled. To a naïve, young man it seemed like there wasn’t much left for him.

Pale eyes fell to the ground in front of him, but his vision was obscured by his thoughts. He had made the addition of a golden hoop by himself. Perhaps it had not been the smartest thing to do, but recklessness and anger brought Silas to do it. Upon every birthday, it was tradition for a Russo child to receive an additional earring - something Rurik most likely would have done. The second ring was scabbed with dried blood and most likely would not heal as cleanly as his first – the consequences for not finding a piercer who knew what they were doing.

He climbed the front steps and made his way to the front doors of the mansion, stepping inside and closing them behind him as he went. The familiar smell didn’t provide much comfort now, as it normally did. Instead, he felt mostly like returning to an empty jail cell. As he attempted to cling to his heritage, the inevitable hurt of abandonment bore not only in his chest, but also in his mind. Things that used to bring the boy joy seemed to have lost all interest as of late.

Except for one.

One could visibly see the change in his pale eyes as life sparked behind them. The sight of the Inferni princess could easily break the melancholy that surrounded him. The young Russian so much as attempted a thin smile for the girl, and skirted around abandoned furniture to approach her. A book lay cradled in her hands, and pale eyes swept the cover to catch the title. "Vhat’re you reading?" He asked, settling himself down onto the couch beside her. For now, the grey clouds had dissipated and the sun seemed to be shining through.
