She was not meant to be getting through any pages today. That was fine, for her heart jumped when she heard it sound in the front door. A second jump happened when it turned out to be the one person she had hoped it would be. Barely touched, the book remained in her limb hands as her full focus turned to the approaching male with the eyes she adored so. Awareness rose and she could feel fizzling champagne dance with warmth within. How could she think she led an unhappy, miserable life when she could harbour such blind contentment in moments like these? Already, an honest smile was blooming on her lips. She was so foolish—losing her natural balance like this, but she couldn’t help herself.

Her gaze followed him, feared and hoped as he moved to sit beside her. She was overly content with his choice of seating, and remained extremely aware of the little distance between the two of them. It was odd, but this mere move caused warmth to dab at her cream and copper cheeks and she was forced to look away for a mere moment to regain her composure. ”To kill a mockingbird,” the woman calmly answered as she looked back to his exotic features. Unfortunately she had not caught the current gloom in the male’s life, so she remained oblivious. Instead she wondered if he had read many books.

In the very beginning in her infatuation with this male she had mentally frowned at the possibilities that he had boring hobbies and interests, but it did not matter anymore. While Halo was one to judge everyone around her, she could not judge him. She knew who and what she was and could only be insanely relieved by the fact that he seemed to like her despite her heavy flaws. It was true that he had not really seen her less complimenting colours yet, but it did not make her behaviour less her when they were together. He made her become a better person. Suppressing the obligatory sigh of contentment, she smiled at him. ”It’s not about how to kill a bird though; it’s a story about humans.” Yes, she had been surprised.

”How have you been?” she asked on impulse, finding that she actually was interested in that answer. Most of the things about this male were interesting, somehow. Fingers unconsciously brushed over the golden bracelet embracing her wrist; she really did love it.
