[M] - We can live like Jack and Sally if we want

He was sure she could have probably hated him and he would still find comfort in those eyes. Somehow, Silas could never imagine that ruby ever causing him hurt. He wanted to crawl inside of that burning crimson and float forever in a sea of red, his heart set on fire and the lovely burning he would cherish. Even now, after he had decided to spill all these things on his mind, he found himself captivated by those eyes. He needed to look away, felt embarrassed and exposed as he sat on the couch beside her, but there was some reserve of strength that locked the pale ice there. She was absolutely gorgeous, and he wanted more than anything for her to be his. His, alone. How he wished he could reach inside and take away all of her hurt, for he never wanted Halo to feel like he felt.

Her hand fell away from him and Silas instantly missed her touch, though the princess readjusted herself so that she was facing him better. He could see that there was something behind the ruby – a spark he interpreted as compassion - and the simple phrase she muttered melted his heart. Her voice had always been music to his darkened ears, and now it was so soothing. She couldn’t understand that she was the only one now who could comfort him. Silas wasn’t sure whether or not her words were true – for he still felt like their departure was somewhat his fault – but he let himself be fooled into believing it for now. It was so much easier that way.

Words escaped the Russian as he let Halo’s voice settle in, feeling some small weight lift as he chose to believe her words. Ice studied the ruby and it wasn’t longer than a few moments or so before those gems started to move closer. Her touch returned to him, and currents of electricity danced underneath her fingertips and raced along his chest. Suddenly he was self conscious; worried she’d be able to feel the racing of his heart as it threatened to escape from beneath his ribs. As she drew closer, the boy’s veins were flooded with a new sensation; something he confused as apprehension. Limbs sought to wind around her, and yet he feared making some wrong move. He didn’t realize this new feeling was anticipation, as her slim muzzle drew frightening close to his own.

There was no time left for rational thinking; all thought left the boy and the Russian acted merely on instinct. As the coyote princess drew closer, arms found their way around her frame and palms cradled the small of her back to hug her closer. Turning his gaze down, Silas greedily buried his muzzle into her neck, allowing himself to dive into her intoxicating scent and drink in her warmth. Her touch was simply amazing, and he couldn’t help think that this is how their first embrace should have felt. He had feared she would not feel remotely similar to what he had felt, but she was relieved he was still here. That was enough for him.

Silas found no need for words, and simply clung to the princess as if his life depended on it. He needed her now, and found the thought of having to eventually let her go unbearable. For now, he would only let his thoughts linger on the present; on the warm feel of her fur beneath his touch, on her intoxicating scent, of the sound of her soft breathing. Her daring act had given him the strength her needed, and the boy realized that he was greedy. He should have been satisfied by her advance, but he was not. Instead, he turned his head so that his lips could find hers.

His family had abandoned him, but she was unknowingly doing a magnificent job of making him forgot.
