Kansas was wandering the territory of Crimson Dreams in search of food. Prey was plentiful throughout their lands, and surely one of his members had felled a deer or elk recently, but he wasn't hungry for such a large meal. He preferred to occupy these spare moments looking for a smaller snack of rabbit or goose. After wandering the forest for a few hours, he entered the orchard, his twitching nose level with the damp grass. He snuffed around for only a few moments before an urgent call consumed all of his attention. The Sadira looked toward the Manor, alarmed. For a second, he worried that something had gone terribly wrong, his stomach twisting with anxiety. Then, with a sigh of relief, he remembered that Ghita was great with pups and fit to burst at any moment.

Eager to be among the welcoming party of the new additions, he started across the orchard. Halfway to the Manor, a reddish pup sat munching a fallen apple. Kansas recognized him immediately. He had begun to teach the boy Oak and his brothers how to read, so he was familiar enough with the child to nuzzle him gently. "Hey, wanna come see Ghita's new puppies?" Oak's expression lit with excitement and he nodded vigorously. The two trotted the rest of the way to the manor, the pudgy boy hurrying to keep up with the long-legged Sadira. They climbed the porch and entered the manor, heading straight into the sitting room where a small portion of the pack had already gathered.

Oak wanted to rush into the fray immediately, but Kansas instructed him gently to stay beside him, wishing to spare him the rather disturbing sight of the actual birth. They were at the very back of the group, and Oak couldn't see above the bodies ahead. Kansas found Savina and Cambria beside Ghita and smiled to them, knowing that they would bring the little ones into the world without trouble. The first pup had already arrived into Cambria's hands, a beautiful mess of fur and dampness. Kansas felt a swell of happiness for the new parents, but was quiet while he awaited the rest of the litter.
