Quote the Raven Nevermore

He just laughed at Saul’s last comment before turning back to his table and looking over the dagger. His practiced eyes running the calculations and processes of how the blade was made in his mind. A 3-d map of drafting precision was made mentally before he flipped it around in his hand weighing it before handing it back to Saul.

“Saluce, and it’s Saul correct?” he asked quietly before continuing. “Whoever gave you that dagger must be a very dear friend or family member. Very expertly made, balanced perfectly for stabbing . Not so much for slashing, but that wasn’t its intended purpose.” He continued as he walked along before grabbing his own dagger and handing it to him. This dagger was sleeker with much more of the weight on the blade side, making slashing and swift cuts easier.

“Hold both and let me know what differences you notice between the two”. Now was as just as good a time to start teaching him both skills. Knowing the differences in weapons was good for both fighting and for forging. Right now he only intended to start pointing out simple differences between two blades that looked similar but served two different purposes. While he looked over the daggers he moved to another portion of the room where he pulled two different swords, one being one of his broadswords and one being the sword he was in the process of making for Layla. It was made in a curved fashion, not a katana but more of a Middle Eastern type style, two different swords with two different fighting techniques. These two where then offered to him to study, well they were placed on a table in front of him as well.

“Noticing the differences in build in weapons are easy, but it’s a step towards knowing what type of opponent you are up against. Making them also imparts the knowledge of weak and strong points in a weapon. But in peacetime it allows you to study other works and impart those into your own. Observation is the key to living your life, fighting, and blacksmithing. Your eyes are your first weapon, then your ears, then your heart. “ This was the beginning and if he was going to learn he try and teach him in both arts before he’d have the time to give him full time training.
