The boy was no older than the months he had lived, and thus discovered the other canine horribly late. Young thoughts had been elsewhere, and now concern of his own safety burned within his little, puffed up chest as he watched the other watch him. Tail seemed to flee between his two hind legs, but the boy felt no safer. The wolfish hybrid’s pace had died completely by now, and he seemed frozen in his spot, staring at the two legged stranger with alarm quickly filling the dark crimson and lilac orbs.

Oh, and he spoke! An ear quickly rose from its tense position against his light skull, but it was hard to understand. He debated whether or not this was another language spoken by outsiders. Having never really been outside Inferni’s comforting borders on his own, he knew not how to distinguish ally from foe. He had never seen this adult before, and that was enough to cause his heart to flutter wildly with adrenaline. He had understood the words—though barely, but did not offer any vocal response.

Instead, the boy’s frame turned from the other male’s, and with watchful eyes glued to the optime form of the stranger, Itachi slowly started to pad up a half circle around him. Perhaps it was possible to walk past without anything happening. Tiny milk teeth flashed quietly in warning brought out of the boy by this thing called instinct. Stranger danger.
