A ghost in the system, and angel on the stairs.

Tayui "hmmm'd" in reply when Theodore named the wolf. Naniko. Tayui had heard this name a number of times in her life from a few friends here and there. Once from Pilot, when Shadowed Sun had split up, and another time when she had overheard a conversation. He had decided to help from the predecessor to Crimson Dreams, then known as Twilight Vale. Anu had also mentioned this pack to Tayui later on when Tayui had been a loner two years ago. It seemed odd to know that that time in her life was so far away now. Things had changed so much in all that time and sometimes it frightened her. Well, that wasn't exactly correct: she frightened herself now with her drive for vengeance and bloodlust. She had not yet tasted blood, but knew it would not be long.

Tayui wondered what kind of crime Naniko had committed -- or had been accused of committing. She also wondered if the accusations had been true. She supposed that was something she would have to ask Naniko herself if she wanted to know. She had only heard of the other wolf in passing; she knew nothing about this supposed leader. Theodore spoke once more and she wondered if she should answer that. Did she want him to know where she was from? Did it matter? Either way, he could probably smell it on her – she had been in AniWaya for two years and it showed.

“AniWaya,” she replied. “But I belong to no wolf,” she added. She didn’t know why she felt it was necessary to add that, but the phrasing of his question made her frown a bit. She was herself and there was no wolf or luperci that could change that. These were all her decisions: the good and the bad and she would have it no other way.
