Maybe he did not have it in him to love. Eris was special to him, but he did not know if he loved her because it was beyond his comprehension. Orange eyes focused on her face, studying the subtle way it changed with her words. His pupils widened as if they sought to swallow the pain.

“Ahm sorry,” he offered her, though it sounded strange with his gruff voice. He tilted his head doggishly, and a faint smile broke across his face. “Do y’think they’ll take care of ‘em?” The wolf asked, his eyes dropping to her belly.
