rambly post ahoy. wc: 682

Lucia stared at the few gathered dancers for a short time, still clutching the old guitar in front of her like a shield. The girl certainly hadn’t been expecting to see this when she decided to make her way over to the little impromptu bonfire celebration. She wasn’t sure what she had been expecting, to be honest, but perhaps something a little more… calm. Something more like a relaxed pack meeting, maybe. Not this display of bonfires and dancing and lack of inhibitions.

She was becoming more and more tempted to simply turn around and leave, unnoticed, until the flute-playing leader noticed her. He stopped his playing briefly to wave to her and encourage that she join in the celebration with a melody from her guitar. She merely blinked emerald eyes at his words, but the tall wolf was already getting back into dancing around the fire with a girl she’d never seen before. The Marino girl glanced down at the instrument in her hand for a brief moment before turning her gaze to the bodies maneuvering around the fire.

Well… what could it hurt? The new musician had hardly had much of a chance to show off her budding skills with her instrument with the pack before now. What was the point in all of the practicing she was doing if she was simply going to keep her melodies all to herself? With a soft sigh, the sandy-furred girl settled herself down onto the ground, placed the guitar onto her lap, and began to play. She strummed softly at first, trying to match the right notes that would mix well with the light and airy tunes already being played by Shaw’s flute.

By the time their singer added her vocal talent to their tunes, Lucia was playing with more confidence, her strumming more energized than before. The girl closed her eyes, effectively loosing herself to the music and blocking out the sight of their cheery dances. The more she played, the less out of place she began to feel amongst the gathering celebrators. She still had no idea what this celebration was supposed to be for, but she supposed that it didn’t matter all that much now. All she needed to do was focus on her playing, focus on the music all around them, and she would be fine.

Lucia easily lost herself to the music, and she allowed herself to relax much more once she got into her playing. She was startled out of her groove when suddenly a nearby voice shouted about their love for the pack. The Marino girl faltered momentarily in her strumming, eyes snapping open to search for the source of the blurted words. To her surprise, she found that even more canines had arrived to join in their little celebration. She raised an eyebrow at the dark-furred stranger she assumed to have just declared her love of the pack, offering her a look of confusion before turning her attention to the rest of the new arrivals.

The majority of those gathered were strangers to her, though that came as no surprise. Considering how much time she spent on her own around the Cercatori d’Arte lands, she expected as much. She simply assumed that she would meet her new pack mates when she did; there was no reason to go out searching for them. Now would perhaps be the best time for her to do so, but instead she found herself clinging to the excuse that she could ignore them to focus on her performance. That didn’t require talking to them, and that suited her just fine.

As she began her strumming once more, she noticed the sounds of another string instrument joining their performance. Emerald eyes were quick to discover that it was one of the strangers who had pulled out a lute. She watched him play for a brief moment, inwardly pleased to find that there was yet another musician within their midst. She gave no indication of this, however, and simply closed her eyes and continued to play along to their cheerful tune.
