Weee Jassy, I'd like to think Nayru was there for Bris too <3 so yeah. 613.

They never had really out right spoken about any of it, they hadn't needed to. Ever the ghost of their family Nayru knew without words, knew what went on in their lives without living with them. Nayru had of course been in and out of the Victorian house, not as much as she once had, but enough to keep her in the loop. They did not have to tell her what happened in their lives, she saw it as she came and went, taking in every tiny detail about those she loved most. She saw the affection blossoming between Conor and Bris, she saw the thickening middle of Bris, the development of Range and Melee and Gideon. Always Gideon was there, and so long as he was there nothing that happened in the Victorian house could rock Nayru. Yet it was not he who had been on Nayru's mind more and more, as she stayed mostly isolated in her green house far on the east of Dahlia. Bris time was near, the woman's own actions the couple days prior and all the books Nayru had read on the subject told her so.

Without being asked or told Nayru spent the last few nights keeping a vigil over the house, her presence had not been questioned by anyone and she spent time talking with Gideon, watching Melee and Range live their lives, or napping in Gideon's room during the day when others were surely up and about. Sometimes she would linger by Bris and tell the woman about all the plants that Nayru was growing in her greenhouse, although she mentioned she didn't know how to use them for food or medicine, or she told her about her recent trip to Crimson Dreams, and the meeting with Ghita. Mostly though Nayru kept to herself, reading through the stacks of books and simply existing alongside the others, as if she lived there still. When the time finally came, a few days after Nayru had showed up again, she was there alongside her Alpha and Theta, a silent presence as ever, ruby eyes watching over the whole proceeding.

When there was a need she filled it, fetching water for Conor or gathering clean blankets for Bris. When they spoke to her she answered in her soft whispers, her words warm and kind and encouraging but only when provoked. And when the children finally came Nayru stood back, knowing that there was nothing for her to do and everything for her to see. Conor's face lined with worry and Bris's which contorted in pain at times, the squalling child covered in slime from Bris's inside and then the silent one. For a long time Nayru's gaze stayed on that child's face, her heart hammering harder then than it had at any other point, despite her concern for Bris or Conor. How unfair it all seemed, one child got to enter the world and the other didn't. Who chose? Or was it just chance? Nayru understood death better now than when she had first arrived in Dahlia de Mai. However, she understood it only in terms of choice, she could choose what to kill and what to let live. There hadn't been a choice here. There hadn't been a reason.

Yet as Conor swapped living for dead, Nayru moved to the side of Bris, her gentle lips pulling back in a easy smile. She did not let her gaze follow the male to see where he placed the stillborn, nor did she let her mind wonder about it. “Hello little Eclipse.” Her soft voice barely louder than Bris's breath, her long fingers resting gently on Bris's arm.
