Two years, and the fire grows - birthday feast

Although Korva had been decreasingly shy, she still found it rare that she spoke with another wolf for something other than a greeting. She still wasn't used to all of the tribe customs, but when the she-wolf heard drumbeats, she decided it would be best to go and see what was going on, and meandered in the direction of the noise. As she saw the other tribesmembers rushing around her, Korva decided that nobody had planned for this. She paused at the edge of the crowd, and her breath caught in her throat. Dawali was in the center, as always, and he was playing the drums that could be heard all throughout the village, and he looked spectacular beside the flames. The light brown she-wolf was confused as to what was going. When the chief started to sing, a white wolf that Korva was positive she had seen before emerged from the sidelines. As the white wolf danced to the tribal music, a flaming staff whirling around , Korva felt her own body sway a bit to the beat. She felt very welcome to the tribe all of a sudden, as if there were an unseen connection she had failed to sense before. Chills went up and down her spine; she felt the hair on the back of her neck rise.

But before she even realized that the white wolf's dance was over, another figure emerged. This wolf's colors were were darker than Korva's own pelt, but they glimmered in the fire like Dawali's pelt, although not as surreal as the white wolf's appearance. This wolf danced with a ring of fire, and Korva watched in blank amazement as the flames whirled about the wolf. Mesmerized, she moved closer until she was towards the front of the crowd, absolutely captured by the moment. When the dance ended, Korva held her breath, wondering what in the world could possibly happen next.
