Nayati had been at the farther reaches of AniWaya's territory when the Chief's call had echoed through the still evening air. The ivory male's ears perked forward with curiosity. Why was Dawali calling for a gathering? They had only recently completed the last ceremony, so he doubted that was the cause. Not to mention he had heard no word of a gathering set for this evening and Dawali almost always alerted the tribesmembers to the fact that a ceremony was upcoming. If he had known, he would not have wandered so far away from the village, and without Iye too. The Utina gave an exasperated sigh as he started to jog back to the village through the woods, wishing to be there quicker than he knew he would arrive.
The hunter was coming up to the center of the village when he heard the Kalona's loud words of announcement. A grin came to his face. So that was it, it was this tribe's birthday. Nayati had arrived here after the first anniversary had come and gone, so he was glad that he was there for it this year. Blast it all though, he was late and had missed the opening performances. As he came into the gathering he could see Ralla and Sanuye and they had both clearly just done a performance of some sort. He felt bad that he had missed it, but there was nothing to be done about it now.
Nayati gave a wave and a nod to the two fire tenders and the Kalona before he found Liliana and went to stand by her side. The man gave her arm a light squeeze as he came up to her, looking down at her with that usual smile that she gave him on his face. The scent of tabacco and food was heavy in the air, making his stomach rumble a bit in anticipation. "Shall we grab some food?" he asked her softly.
