The dancing settled down and Dawali announced the purpose of the spontaneous meeting. A second birthday was a fine thing, but Theodoric was a little shocked to realize just how young the pack was. He then immediately felt old, because he remembered clearly the last two years and he had been a fully mature adult for both of them. Then again, if he could make a fresh start at six years old, why couldn’t someone else? Why couldn’t an entire pack? Looking around at the many young faces gathered at the ceremony, he wondered just how many of those present had done exactly that.
The ring of the music still echoing in his ears, Theodoric joined the line of members grabbing something to eat. He wasn’t terribly hungry, so he hung back a little, letting others have the choicest picks and making sure there was enough to go around. There was, of course, plenty left by the time he approached the line. Theodoric grabbed a fish to nibble on and returned to the circle, perhaps looking for a familiar face to join him there.
