wake up, open the door, and escape to the sea

Gabriel saw but did not acknowledge Hybrid’s narrow-eyed gaze. He pulled back and frowned, his face clearly aggravated despite his above-average patience for the man. “Enkiel found a woman who was coughing up blood. If her disease is going to spread, I’d like to know about it.” Short, simple. He had no reason to further explain anything to Hybrid. Instead, the burly male shook his head and spared a glance to the empty space around them. Inferni had been very quiet these past few weeks, but the air felt uneasy.

Business, though, preceded the need for idle chat. Gabriel turned his eyes back to his brother-in-law, finding that even after so long the mass of scars that covered the man were remarkably unappealing and grotesque. “Anything unusual?” He asked, double-meaning in his words. A wolf poking around was not unusual. A sick animal would be. A stranger provoking fights would be. Unusual for Hybrid would be something that Gabriel would need to concern himself with.
