Red Sun at Midnight

Omg, the snow is perfect >:3 Time to put into effect what we've been planning for months and never did till now!

No answer came as she continued to call his name. Opaque twinkles of light escaped through the clouds now, and so her search grew more urgent. The winds blustered in uneven gusts, creating eddies and miniature swirls of phantom snow-dancers. There was a faint scent of Kemo in the hollow, but it was slightly stale, telling her he had moved on. Did he find somewhere else to shelter for the winter...? It was entirely possible. Sometimes it was wiser to shelter in low ground snow dens or caves than thatched huts because the snow could become too heavy and cave in a ceiling. But how far did he go...? She followed the newest traces of his scent, head bent low to the ground, even as she was in full optime form. He was not terriby far, based on the scent, but he was far enough to garner worry that she might lose the trail halfway through pursuit.

As if in one of her dreams, a translucent image appeared before her eyes. It was a butterfly--like one she had seen before--but it was darker. Black wings fluttered like shadows--intensly out of place in their snowy wonderland--while little white eyes with blue rims winked in and out of each beat. Ralla had seen the species before, back in her native lands during the spring. They were called Blue Moon butterflies, and represented the Blue Moon Pack largely because of the pack's demographics where the butterflies migrated. But the wings were the true key to their name. Trance-like, she followed the waking-dream through the snow; walk turning into a trot into a run. No matter how much faster she went, the butterfly remained as far away as before, like a rainbow. It was leading her on, much as the blue butterfly had with her meeting Anatoliy, but its feel was immeasurably different; more powerful, more urgent. Her feet were flying so fast over the icy roots and dark ground that she barely noticed where she was anymore. All she could think was faster, faster, faster.

With a small yelp, her foot caught on an upraised root that she had failed to avoid, and she went flying forward into an embankment of snow. Her arms cushioned most of the impact, but she felt something distinctly un-snow like beneath her. It was soft and warm, so Ralla opened her eyes to see what she had potentially crushed during the reverie. Opening her forest green eyes, she saw more white, but it belonged to a wolf. Looking up, muzzle inches from another's, she was more than shocked to see a familiar face; relief and panic mixed in her voice. "Kemo!" Oh, how relieved she was indeed. That blessed vision had led her to Kemo, and now that she knew where he was, barricaded emotions and fears burst forth from their dam. Water welled up at the corners of her eyes, although she refused to let them spill over. How could she cry when she had assured him she could take care of herself...? How could she burden him more by making him worry? It was just... Everything that had happened since they had met, and more. We're going back to the Tribe, I have to face Father. What will Kemo find out about his sight? What will brother tell Father? Will it all turn out alright? I don't want to leave. Will Kemo be alright? What about tonight? It's the night, I know it. What's going to happen? It all conglomerated as a choked sob escaped her throat, unchecked then as her thoughts were too unorganized to regroup against the stress. For a wolf who had been trained to use her mind and knowledge--to channel emotions behind a closed door--the sensation of losing control only served to scare her more. "Kemo, are you alright? Has anything bad happened...?" She was just so happy that Kemo was there...

Moon walks. "Moon talks." Moon thinks.
