Finally, the treatment seemed to be coming to an end and much to his relief, Demi hadn’t pushed him for details as to how he had gotten injured in the first place. If she had, he had no idea what he would have told her; anything but the truth that’s for sure. He was rather defensive over the fight; mainly because he allowed himself to be baited into it and lost as well! There was no way he would tell her that he’d made an excellent fool out of himself and so he preferred that she came to her own conclusions.
Concentrating, he watched as the female worked. Medicine was new to him and so he was distracting himself by watching what she did and trying to figure out what everything did and how things worked. Things were looking good, he was so focused on the task at hand until she spoke to him again. As she spoke he could feel the irritation and need to defend himself build. Really, he hadn’t meant to snap at her, he honestly hadn’t heard her coming and was injured! Of course he’d react the way he had. But he kept his mouth shut.
It was then it occurred to him, that this time when Demi had applied the alcohol it did not hurt as much. The knowledge added to his irritation; she had purposely made the treatment as painful as possible, go figure. In response to this he simply raised a questioning eyebrow.
Really, the seemingly helpless Furcas was a devil in disguise he had concluded. Now that he was patched up, it was time to turn tail and run, after making a mental note on how to keep the wound clean.
“Thanks” he mumbled and then swiftly made his way to the comfort of his room. His lesson was royally learnt: never get on the bad side of Demi.
