Kansas stood back from the others, listening calmly as his mate explained how they would board up the house to protect the Dreamers within. He glanced into the sky and let his eyes wander far off where the clouds were low and dark and foreboding. Though he had no idea how to judge the speed of the approaching storm just by locating it in the distance, he knew they would need to work fast — the weather could not be very far off now, the air was heavy with it. To make things more urgent, the Manor had a lot of windows.
Silvano suggested they begin with Artemis' room, which was where Kansas had hoped to start. If the storm came suddenly, his sick child would not be able to escape danger like the rest of them, and he wanted to make sure that she was as safe as possible. Kansas stayed back as Jazper gathered materials in his muscular arms, not letting his eyes linger too long in his direction because doing so would ignite his anxiety. He could sense the intensity between them, but luckily it was little more than that. Their issue had not gotten out of hand. It was a good thing that they were both mature enough to remain civil with one another, especially since they had to work together for the sake of their pack. There were more important things to focus on right now than their disagreement with one another, and Kansas was sure they both understood that.
Kansas picked up the materials he would need to start off with, while in the background, Jazper made a few more educated suggestions. The Sadira wolf was beginning to feel inadequate once again, this time in the dark giant's shadow of practical knowledge. His teeth dug into his lip but he kept his expression measured and calm, grinning at his son as he passed by to enter the living area and head toward Artemis' room.
