Until he had met Misery, he had known very little as far as language was concerned. It was still a barrier to him, but he was surprisingly quick and picked up on meanings as they were presented to him.

If she had been so quick to do so, she was not made out rule in the first place. The choice of Theodore, the rather blunt wolf with the blue eyes was one that Larkspur agreed with. While he instinctively favored male leadership, he had found it lacking in many people. Teddy was not one of them. The boy had the will to dominate, and made such a thing present. Satisfied with this choice, he made certain the children observed him as well. They would need to know the faces of the people in charge.

This seemed to release the tension from her, and the dark man focused forward, waiting to see if there was more to be said.
