Paranoid was a good way to describe Pixie’s behavior for the past day and a half. As if cold weather didn’t set her off enough, a full blizzard was absolute frozen hell to her. The high-pitched howl of the wind outside did nothing to calm her nerves; the sound of snow pelting the boarded-up windows made her lose any common sense, and she began to imagine the manor being blown down to a pile of bricks at any moment. Last night she had had one of her most vivid nightmares ever, where the sounds of the storm outside blended into the visions her mind created while she slept. She hadn’t been able to check on Magic, and while she trusted the stable that Ehno had built for him to not collapse, she was still worried about her horse. And to top it all off, Denali, someone who she now considered her friend, was still missing. It was enough to drive the young wolf insane.

She managed to keep her behavior under control as the other members of the pack reinforced the windows and used some of the older furniture to set up a fire in the living room, though her claws had visible tooth marks, for she chewed on them when she was especially filled with anxiety. But she found that occupying her time by searching around the house for stored food and extra supplies helped take her mind off of the dangerous weather. At the moment she was looking through a messy cabinet in one of the unused bedrooms. Opening one of the drawers near the bottom, a thick cloud of dust emerged and caused her to sneeze loudly, enough for perhaps the whole manor to hear. Waving the dust away from her purple eyes, she continued searching, hoping she would find anything of interest.
