Colibri and herself had decided to stay in these lands, for as long as they could at least. There was a melancholic beauty about these particular lands, the city in ruins. Tragic for who’s ever town this once was, but perfect for the white yearling. Someone else’s loss became her keeping, her treasure, her home, and that made it all the more beautiful to her. If she could, she’d keep this place as her home, although they needed others to join them for that to be possible. They could stay on as loners, but as loners they had no right to make a claim on these lands. They also were almost helpless to protect it if others moved in to claim it for themselves. Sure, their numbers were more than just Colibri and Cercelee, but not by much, not enough for a pack.

Despite the fact that these lands weren’t really hers, and they could be swooped out from under her at any given moment, she knew them relatively well by now. Cercelee had taken to wandering at any moment her company was not wanted by the others. The silence that permeated from the crumbling buildings was relaxing. The gentle sunlight that warmed the brick and concrete was comforting. The warm rays lulled her into a lazy state of being, her movements slow but deliberate as she picked her way through the littered streets of the town. Glass, rock, random cloth and plastic and other items that had been discarded by the humans was everywhere in this town, but also there were vines and grasses grown wild and trees growing where she was sure no tree had stood as long as the humans lived. The vegetation’s struggle to reclaim the land was amazing really, Cercelee was sure that she would never have the strength to grow up, our of concrete, no matter how determined she was.

As the sun continued to beat upon the deserted town, Cercelee’s muscles continue to relax, her eyes begun to droop slowly. More and more useful thoughts were replaced in her mind by thoughts of sleep. A nap, just a small one. Colibri wouldn’t find her, she was busy with other things, and so a nap did not seem like a bad idea, not at all. Cercelee moved herself against a large brick building, it might have been some sort of government building although Cercelee had no idea of it’s purpose, only that the brick was warm against her skin, and the building mostly in tact so that there was little chance of it crumbling around her as she slept.
