The chocolate colored coy-dog stumbled as he made his way through the tussocks of grass. The small bundle of fur he held tightly between his jaws whimpered and shivered. Cain stopped and put the pup down; the pup stared back up at him with huge pale blue eyes that echoed the pain he had suffered. Cain pulled his gaze away and looked around wildly, his ears swiveling constantly, his nose testing the air. He had to be gone before anyone came to investigate if he wanted this pup to survive here. Nudging the pup with his nose, he loped onwards, the pup plodding along after him, Cain on the alert for anyone who would notice them.

Finally he came upon what he had been searching for; in the distance he could see the mounted skulls of Inferni, before him stretched the lands of the coyotes. Cain looked down at the pup before quickly looking away again, the scars that covered his nephews’ body brought up a terrible guilt within him, he should have come sooner. The pup moved closer to him, the strange pale almost glowing blue eyes stared fearfully at the lands that lay before them. His russet red and orange tinged body shivering, the fur looked like fire when the sun bounced off of it, one of the poor pups ears was almost completely missing and the other one was torn and shredded, the pup looked like a veteran warrior from a fighting pack, not the innocent young life it was supposed to be.

Cain sighed, mentally beating himself up. He nuzzled her pup that he had stolen from his evil, unloving, hateful sister, unknowing how anyone could inflict such torture upon their progeny. He hoped the coyotes here would take him in, adopt him because Kain was in no fit shape to look after a pup. Thin and emaciated he could only just look after himself. Even if the pack didn’t take him in, he hoped they would have mercy enough to kill the pup swiftly and painlessly.

“Daddy?” the inquisitive and hopeful voice broke his heart, the pup looked at him with its head tilted in confusion and Cain shook his head at the falsity the pup believed. Gaining his thoughts he turned to the pup, knowing that this would be both hard and guilt birthing,

“You have to wait here. You cannot come with me anymore.” He closed his eyes as the pups expression changed from confused to distress.

“But daddy?-“ Cain growled suddenly and savagely at the pup who fell over backwards, whimpering in fear.

“I am NOT your father” Unable to look at his terrified nephew anymore, without another word Cain turned and bolted away, abandoning his 4 month old nephew to the mercy of the Inferni coyotes.
