Sobershy Talitha and her hearing of freaky things.

Her morning had taken her from the moderate warmth of her cave to the large island that sad in the quintuplet group, floating in the Saltbrooke Inlet like crumbs from the mainland; the russet princess, without some form of transportation, had shed her human clothing and swam the small stretch of frigid brackish water. Thin and slushy ice clung to her fur as she drew herself from the water, shaking her auburn curls free from the salted liquid. The remnants of sea water clung to her, leaving her fur slick and grainy. The princess grimaced. What had she been thinking, swimming to the islands?

In truth, it was simply to get away. Her days were long, left unpleasant since her encounter with her mother's brother; Hybrid was a man she was unwilling to acknowledge as blood. Faolin, the traitorous whore, had caused the exclusion of the Massacre blood in the eyes of her de le Poer daughter. As for the islands? They were away from main land, away from where Ezekiel could find her. The brother she loved so dearly didn't need to see her in one of the low moments of life. So she had escaped, into her mind and across an inlet to new land that she could explore.

Had she been paying attention, she might have noticed the eerie whisper that passed her ears, or the phantom touch that left her fur on end. As it was, she was oblivious, making a trek from the shore to the center of the small earthen creation. The huts that stood there offered shelter, and a place to dry her fur without fear of hypothermia; once she neared, however, she saw she wasn't alone. Approaching the shacks was the ruggedly handsome form of some ashen blond stranger. The Lykoi hid herself against a near wall, peering around the corner with all the wonder of a shy child.

While she studied the stranger, her ears swiveled to an unfamiliar sound; her mind wrote it off as a whispering breeze, but doubt clouded her mind. Had she heard a voice? But the coyote seemed to be the only other creature on the island, and she had been watching him. Unease settled onto her shoulders.
