Setting: D'alli Ranger Station , in the north

Time: Afternoon.

Character Form: Optime

Claudius had not been this far north, well, ever! He had never really enjoyed wandering around the territory aimlessly; it made him feel lazy and unproductive and he always preferred to have something to do. However, in the last few months, he had changed quite a bit: he was now interested in seeing how the lands were thawing out in the wake of the snowstorm. He felt a sudden surge of pride when he thought of how he'd helped dig out the town hall — he never would have done that a year ago. It was an interesting feeling to look back and know that you changed for the better. Claudius really liked it, too. He liked feeling different and he liked this new-found bravery which allowed him to explore new areas and old places. Hopefully soon, he would meet some new faces to complete this little adventure.

As much as he had changed, there were still some things that would always stay the same. The sudden caw of a crow startled him. He stumbling, his arms flailing, and tripped over a snow-covered tree root. He stuck out his other leg and managed to catch himself before he fell, but it had gotten his heart pumping at an alarming speed. He straightened up as he let out a long whoosh of breath. His hands were shaking from the adrenaline even though the incident had only lasted a moment. He chuckled once, twice, and then again until it became a continuous laugh. Once upon of time, that would have sent him scurrying back to his den. But not anymore! He was a new Claudius and here was not heading home now. There was no turning back.
