he'll always be another one of us

Even though he could not see the other wolf, apparently they could see him. He heard the light sound of snow being trodden upon, but by who was the question. He wasn’t sure if it was a wolf, another predator, or some prey, so he remained still and silent. After a few moments, he saw another wolf emerge and he immediately felt better. He didn’t like these sorts of mysteries and not knowing who was out there made him very uneasy.

He immediately noticed that the wolf was a striking rouge colour with the narrow features and delicate body shape that Dawali had. While Dawali was a male and therefore carried more muscle, the girl was pointedly thin and waif-like, if one could even apply that term to a wolf. He supposed saying ‘twig-like’ was rather rude, so he kept these thoughts to himself.

Soon enough, the wolf greeted him. He tried to reply to her hello with one of his own, but found himself stuttering bits of nonsense and was unable to say anything of significance. Instead, he trotted closer intending to trade scents when he noticed the strange highlights in her pelt. The sun hit some strands of fur in just the right way, revealing red undertones. Claudius faltered and then stopped, instead dipping his head respectfully.

“H-hello T-t-t-t-at… Tatiana…” he began. “I’m a-a-alright. I j-just slipped a-a-a b-bit,” he explained with an embarrassed frown. He flinched when she moved closer, but let her sniff him. He returned the gesture with a small, wolfish smile. He recognized that she was new to AniWaya, but wondered when or why she had joined.

“So y-y-you’re… n-new t-to AniW-W-W-aya,” he stated. It was a feeble attempt at making conversation, but at least he was trying.
