The world was bright. The snow was blinding to weak, dark eyes. The underside of a bed was where the small puff of white spent the majority of her time. Like a beaten dog she feared the outside world. It was loud out there, people were big, strange, scary. They spoke of her like she was an alien, a monster who needed to be put down. Odette felt like an ant compared to them, her tiny body easily crushed under just a foot from one of them big wolves. They walked on two feet like her mama, why.....why did they do that? Her feet were little, she had four of them all the time. Odette could not sit up pretty like her mama could. It was.... strange. Her marooned pink eyes would watch in awe. Her brother and sister didn't seem to notice it as much as she did. Odette saw, she watched like she would never see it again. This world confused her. It scared her beyond belief. The blanket was her haven. Nothing could hurt her there.

Her mama had been busy. Her scent wasn't as close as she liked it to be. The small pink nostrils flared from under the small piece of red fabric to try and find her blind. No, where was she? Where was mama? Odette's little white feet scraped at the floor to pull herself up. Her eyes were wide with a worry and curiosity she could not subside. She had to find her mother. Her voice let out a worried whine as she scanned around her. Her paws moved without thought. She had to find her. Pushing past familiar objects Odette blinded herself in the light of snow. It was new in the day, the sky blinding her. It was cold on her feet, pressure was barely an option under her pads. Her small curly tail dropped briefly as a scared whine emerged from her maw. "Mama?" Her weak voice called out in a bare whisper. There was no answer. The whine got louder, yet remained especially timid. "Mama! Where are you?" She could not smell her, she could not see her. Odette was alone. Alone was terrible. Alone was cold.

Alone was scary.

Being in the snow when she was little had damaged her nose. The bitter winds and demanding cold had bite at it, leaving it weak to smells. Odette did not know she could not smell very well, or why. She did not even know that she was adopted. To her, her brother and sister were just small. The difference did not computer with her little brain just yet. The curly tailed, white puppy was hidden from the world in the last month. She liked it that way.
