Those to Come

Short short.

They moved at a steady pace, Eclipse at times bursting ahead but never falling a step behind. Nayru admired the girl’s energy, and wondered if she would keep it into her adulthood. Nayru had never been bursting with energy, she had always reserved it, never wishing to be caught in a situation out of breath. And she never was. So it was with long easy strides Nayru led the way, allowing for them to pause and marvel at any sight that might catch the younger girl’s eyes, but continuing with the goal always in mind.

When they had passed the forest and the spring and arrived at the field Nayru turned to the girl, wondering if any of her seemingly boundless energy had been exhausted. The grasses weren’t as high as they would become mid-summer, but it was clear that they were reviving from the long winter that had just swept through the lands. Lush green filled the empty space and tiny buds, soon to be colorful flowers, were sprinkled in the mix. Realizing that the spring flowers weren’t quite in bloom, Nayru suddenly wondered if they would find any of the fairy insects, but a small flutter in the corner of her eyes quelled that fear. Turning to the young girl she smiled, "Well, this is it. A little early in the season. We’ll come back when summer is in full swing, and then you’ll really see some butterflies." and she would, although the sighting of the small creatures was not impossible now.
