The young boy nodded absently at her answer. He had expected some sort of medical reasoning. What else were herbs good for? Surely there were other uses but most of those he knew who knew anything about plants were healers or hoped to be some day. He never heard anything more interesting than medicical properties of plants and that didn’t hold too much interest for him. Travel seemed to be his only true passion, but with such turmoil at home he did not feel free to wander here and there as he might have once. And yet neither did he feel comfortable returning home. Merely he existed, lingering close to Phoenix Valley so that if need be he could easily return, but without traveling too far away from home.

Her question caused his ears to perk and he exhaled lightly. It was almost true, he was looking for peace. Not out here though, he knew that peace wasn’t any more likely to be found here than it was inside of Phoenix Valley. The slate boy with the ivory underbelly was hoping to find peace within himself, but as always it eluded him. Eluded him and left him frustrated. “I just don’t much feel like being around my family. Around my pack.” He shrugged. Pripyat contemplated telling her that his father had sawed off his arm and his mother seemed to be falling apart and fading away daily, and that he was too sullen and sorry for himself to help rebuild his own home. That he merely watched them with gloomy eyes and a heavy heart and wasn’t sure how to fix any of it. Didn’t even want to try. Instead he turned the attention back on her, because asking her questions was easier than answering them himself. ”Where do you come from?”
