A familiar itch started at the base of her skull as she glared toward the father she hadn't been raised by. It never occurred to her that Gabriel didn't understand what was wrong, or what had happened. He had ruined something she'd tried so hard to save. After the assault in her youth, she'd needed something to remain a solid creature, and the fantasy she'd wrapped herself up in was gone. Destroyed by news her brother brought. Never before had she felt such a surge of hatred as it flooded ruby eyes.
How could he?
"How...how could you replace mother with...with THEM? How could you?!" she screamed, tears flowing freely across the russet surface of her face. The betrayal went as deep as the marrow of her bones, and all signs pointed back to the de le Poer man. "You have us, why would you need them? WHY." She demanded an answer, but gave no clues as to what. Childishly, she coiled auburn curls about her hand, pacing the beach with brisk steps. The fact that Gabriel may not have realized what exactly she was speaking on didn't factor into her thoughts. In the fantasy world she had fabricated for her own sanity, Gabriel knew everything.
