there's no relief in bitterness

One or two members, please!

Needless to say, Jefferson Soul had been busy.

To be precise, the cyclops was not sure he had ever been so up and around in all his amnesiac life. Phoenix Valley certainly kept him busy on a daily basis in all the years of his leadership there, but the pack was a laid-back one and tensions with other packs and with his members had never troubled him enough to lead the idiot to actual stressing. The Valley Patriarch was well aware he was needed in AniWaya; it was less about compensating for Dawali's aid in the past and more for holding the western tribe up strong during the Kalona's healing period, but doubled with more stresses than usual leaking in Phoenix Valley, the cyclops found himself running back and forth between packs on horseback more than he had imagined. Tala was too new for some of the responsibilities the pack was asking of her — most namely, dealing with the rapist Sawtooth that was stalking about — and so Jefferson would appear and set things straight for as long as they could be until he would return again, a few days later, to repeat the cycle.

On top of Lucifer's idiocy in and around his pack, Jefferson darkly accustomed himself to a life with one arm, something he had yet to get used to. Geneva was sick at home and getting sicker by the day; the cyclops was not sure how she would turn out or if she would bounce back, leading to a particular heartache in his chest the male did not expose on the forefront whatsoever. Pripyat still suffered from the guilt knowing his father had lost his arm to save him. Jace had been raped, and if he had heard correctly, so had Tala. Ty was having a hard time keeping track of the Sawtooth, though Jefferson advised his former apprentice as much as possible in the periods he was in the Valley to ensure the pack would be safe without him there. On top of it all, much of the territory was still in shreds from the snowstorm, many members were still healing or displaced, and the Patriarch feared pregnancy in a few of the girls. When the time rolled around that he would be able to return, his work would be cut out for him; for now, however, the brute could only be thankful AniWaya was so quiet.

Quiet, of course, but not in a way that settled his worries. Jefferson had taken to pacing through the AniWayan territories, describing them to Dawali as exploring the territory and becoming familiar with it, though hardly any exploring was happening. Plaguing thoughts masked his gaze; what beautiful wonders the AniWayan land had to behold to him were lost to whatever bothered him at the time, and his single eye saw nothing. Adagio Creek babbled alongside him as he moved, his single arm at his side, the empty, long sleeve of the other flapping listlessly in the breeze. A scarred man, a murderer on such peaceful land. It was a travesty.
