It was indeed an interesting name. His mother had not harboured much love for him—not of the conscious kind anyway—and her son had developed similar feelings in response, though he was of a flawed design. There were dark taints in his parents’ blood, and perhaps that was why his cognitive development seemed so different from the rest. But he did not ponder about these things, just accepted it as it was. He was different and was willing to live with this, for there was no other way for him to be, and he did not care enough about the rest of society to make amends for his way, which were often unacceptable in the eyes of others.

”My mother cared little for me, and the name emphasises that,” he replied, not shy with revealing the truth standing behind the name his mother had chosen for him. It was unlikely that the orange eyed woman knew the meaning of his name, but he would not clarify unless she asked him to. Sunset gaze followed the woman’s form as she invaded into his personal space further; taking in the emptiness of what should be a home. Home was where the heart belonged, but his remained within its ribcage prison, and he had yet to find a reason why he should make more out of this cave he had claimed.

He didn’t know that rocky surfaces would make it difficult to decorate, for the mere thought of decorating this room had never been genuinely considered. ”Perhaps,” sounded the dull reply, revealing more indifference about his surroundings. He stored the information about a present son of hers in Anathema, but he was not eager to take up the offer. Perhaps it was impolite of him, but he was not a creature familiar with socialising beyond what was necessary. He did note the general friendliness she treated him with, but responded poorly. He thought of a vocal response to offer her, but found none to express his opinion well enough. ”It’s not necessary,” he said, settling on a mere decline.
