With the mere opening of his eyes Calixte traveled eons away from a mysterious land into the woods known for dampness. Returning from the wildness of dreams to the humble reality before him was always a bittersweet relief, for he greatly loved the adventures of his sleeping mind. With a yawn, more like a sigh, he pushed himself to all fours and tinkered across the pine needles.

After relieving himself beneath an old man-pine tree's mighty swaying trunk he gave the tree a smile and a pat and strolled East. The shore could be reached within an hour if Calixte kept up pace, but with his attention easily and greatly distracted by the tiniest event he knew it could take days.

Suddenly and true to nature, Calixte was upon his belly staring in wonder at something on the ground. That something was a current of worker ants carrying pieces of food atop their tiny, glistening black wave. He sniffed them delicately so as not to disturb the order, and realized they were carrying adorable morsels of fetid meat. Okay, maybe not adorable, but definitely miniscule. He whispered, "Awww," once and then quieted down, resting with his head on his forepaws as he watched, wide-eyed, at the insects communal task.
